No-Not

     No is an adjective and is thus used to modify nouns. (Example: He has no money and no friends.) 

     Not is an adverb and is used (a) to modify the verb in all English sentences. 
(b) before the adjectives much, many, any. enough- also before any article or numeral used as an adjective to modify a noun. (Examples: He does not speak English well. Not many people came to the meeting. Not a person spoke; not one word of protest was heard.)
